Austin is home to one of the largest public universities in the US. The University of Texas in Austin holds an astounding enrollment of nearly 50,000 students. This university is also a top-notch school and ranks 67th in the World’s Best Universities.

Austin holds the number one spot for drunkest city in Forbes.com in 2008. In 2010, Forbes.com ranked it the 10th fittest city in the country. Austin also holds the second place for the best walking cities and ranks high among the best cities for relocating singles.

Austin is popularly known as the Live Music Capital of the World. It hosts a yearly juggernaut festival, South by Southwest (SXSW) which is a three-part entertainment, music and interactive expo. It also hosts City Limits Music Festival which is a three-day musical event featuring 130 bands.

“Keep Austin Weird” is one of the famous slogans in the city although it is not sanctioned by the government. The natives of this city call themselves the Austinites. Austin has an average of 300 sunshine days in a year.
