If you love everything about technology and entertainment, Austin is the perfect place for you. Annually, a killer fest is held in this city and it encompasses a three-part expo of film, music and technology. This Austin festival is known as South by Southwest or SXSW for short. And, it is held yearly during spring or around the month of March.
SXSW first began in 1987 as a music festival with only less than a thousand attendees. It then blossomed into a huge trio of fests and conferences with the inclusion of film and technology and is now being attended by close to 40,000 people. Each of the three parts of the SWSX run independently and can have varying start dates and duration days.
SWSX is by far largest music festival in the United States. There can thousands of music performances that can be carried out in a span of four days. This year it even lasted up to six days. It’s not difficult to cater to 2,000 performers descending into this city as there are reportedly more than 90 venues in downtown Austin where concerts can be held. And we can’t put any doubts on Austin as it holds the title of being “The Live Music Capital of the World”.
The film part of the SWSX festival is also considered one of the premier film festivals in the world. Through the SWSX Film, a generation of independent moviemaking was conceived. The interactive part is, of course, something that is highly exciting. The SWSX Interactive conference features the best and brightest people in the world of technology and new ideas and emerging innovations are discussed.
